Month 10 (Oct 13 - Nov 12)

This was actually a very eventful month. I met lots of different people and got to play with lots of different kids. Some were big - like 2 whole years old. Others were my size. Mom supervised the nursery at church one Sunday and I was a stinker the whole time. I figured she was not busy enough with the other kids. I also got to go to the Halloween Parade at Dad's school. I won the preschool costume contest! I got a flashlight that is shaped like a pumpkin. The judges called me a lady bug though, so, I am not sure if my butterfly costume was as butterfly-ish as it could have been... Dad won the contest for the adults too! (He won a pair of women's Halloween socks) Mom sent my picture to the breakfast TV show in Calgary and they showed it on the air! The host said "Oh! Look at those eyes!". We did not win that contest though. Still, 2 out of 3 is pretty good!

I have gotten pretty good at pulling myself up to standing and then sitting back down again. I can do it with a lot less effort now. Sometimes I even take a few steps along the furniture. They call this cruising. I thought cruising was what my Great-grandparents Cracknell did in the Caribbean. Words can be confusing sometimes! I have become Mom and Dad's shadow and I follow them all around the appartment. Now that I am crawling better and faster, they can't get away from me as easily!

Mom and Dad thought I might get my first tooth soon, but, they were wrong. I showed all the classic teething signs and even had a big bump on my gums but I decided to wait until they least expect it. That way it will be a surprise.

My favorite place to play and sit is this really cool box that my diapers came in. I can climb out of it by tipping it over and I can even push it around all by myself! It is funny, I will be totally uninterested in all my toys, then Mom will put me in my box and all of a sudden, what ever toy she gives me is facinating and entertaining again.

I played my first joke on Mom this month. I was hanging out in my carseat while she applied a sun shade film to the backseat windows in the car. She was busy doing her thing and I decided to see how I could contort myself in my seat. When I found a really good position, I waited for her to look at me and then I broke into a huge grin and giggled. She laughed too and said I was a good joker.

The other stuff I have started to do is kind of subtle. We have this rainbow mobile of concentric circles in the living room. Most days, Mom will carry me over to look at it and she will blow on it to make the circles twirl. I watched what she was doing and figured out how to blow on the circles too. So, now we both stand there and blow on the mobile. Sometimes I will look at it while I am eating and blow toward it. Mom gets the hint now and will give it a good blow so I can see it twirl. She is learning my language!

I am also yawning when others yawn now. That probably seems really trivial, but I never really noticed other people before. It is funny how yawns are contagious!

I also will wave at myself in the mirror and say 'Hi'. To the untrained ear, my 'Hi' might sound like 'Ha' but, I know what I mean!

Mom has been acting a bit foolishly and making all these gestures at me when I am eating. When I copy this one gesture, she gives me more food. I figure that is a pretty sweet deal, so I am starting to do that gesture more often. Mom says I am signing 'more'. I guess I am!

That pretty much sums up my 10th month. Sorry I took so long to write it all out and update the website. Mom was really busy sewing 'beddie bags' for some craft fairs. She really let the house go... but don't tell her I said that!

See you next month (in about 10 days...)
